On Becoming a Person: A Therapist's View of Psychotherapy

Being a human is hard enough as it is and inevitably, life will gently (or not so gently) bring us challenges that we may not know how to cope with or manage at all. By now, you’ve noticed a change in your mood, unpleasant feelings may be arising, you don't know where they are coming from and you do the only thing you can to keep yourself feeling safe. You don't have to get used to feeling this way and simply survive. The events you've experienced cause you to adapt and help you make it through the day. You coped the best you could.

In my practice some of the issues I support individuals through are anxiety, depression, self worth and inner critic, grief and loss and managing stress. I draw from several schools of practice to support people in fostering acceptance/self compassion, creating more space to feel the hard stuff and build/expand on new ways to manage stressors as they come up in life. You will guide the work and tell us where we need to go (when you are ready).

It is my goal to share and create space with people that allows people to be their most authentic selves and explore. Many people see therapy as a one sided conversation, with little to no interaction or experience of each other as real people. I welcome and encourage you to come as you are and I will do the same!
