"The best way out is always through"

                   - Robert Frost

Hi and Welcome,

My name is Alyssa (sounds like ah-leesa) Nagel (she/her), and I am a QMHP in the State of Oregon.  I also hold a full and independent license to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri (since 2014).  I earned a MA in Mental Health Counseling and an EdS in Counselor Education, both from Southeast Missouri State University.  I have also held adjunct faculty positions in counselor education programs in the past and have provided consultation and supervision for counselors-in-training.

I am a firm believer in the power of radical acceptance. Whatever the experience may be...noticing, accepting, expressing, and finding true choice leads to deep change and empowerment.  Through a trauma (EMDR) and attachment theory lens, I am guided by the principle of the Carl Rogers' quote, "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." Thus, I hold space in a safe environment and meet you where and how you are.

At its foundation, my practice is welcoming to anyone who identifies with or might potentially identify with the LGBTQIA+ community, the polyamorous/ENM community, the BDSM/kink community, and those seekers who ask the existential questions in life.  I practice within the competencies of the Association for Spirituality, Ethics, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC) and am a practicing Yogi, meditator, polyamorous by orientation, and a wonderer/wanderer. In my free time, I am often hiking in nature, on my yoga mat, traveling to a new place, listening to and playing music, spending time with my teenager, and/or soaking up joy from my Australian Shepherd.  I look forward to having the honor of walking with you as we move toward the fullest expression of yourself.
