Hello, my name is Bethany Kuehne. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Oregon and Washington. I completed my training at Washington University in St. Louis in 2011. I have spent the past 10 years working with adults who live with mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, and psychosis. I have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), course-work in art therapy and relationship issues. I am further informed by anti-racism, self-compassion, polyvagal and neurobiological theories combined with mindfulness practices. Our work together will be tailored to your individual needs and based on the best available evidence.

I see therapy as a process of activating our internal resources to find a balance of acceptance and growth.  Sometimes that looks like exploring the past with a new understanding; other times, we look for ways to build foundations for our future selves. I bring a combination of deep empathy and practical behavioral approaches to the table.  Using a straightforward style, our therapeutic relationship will be a place of clarity, honesty, and a little bit of humor as we tackle the challenging parts of life.

When I’m not in session, I’m usually cuddled up with my dogs, enjoying live theatre and performing arts, learning about social justice issues, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, or planning my next big adventure.

Some specialty areas that she works in include:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Insomnia

  • Grief and Loss

“You have a unique body and mind, with a particular history and conditioning. No one can offer you a formula for navigating all situations and all states of mind. Only by listening inwardly in a fresh and open way will you discern at any given time what most serves your healing and freedom.”
