NEW!! Healing through Creative Expression
Time & Location
About the Event
One of the ways we try to manage our pain is to obsessively research and try to understand what happened to us. Why did it happen? What is going on inside of the person that hurt me? Can they change? We try to manage the trauma with our heads.
Research tells us that trauma gets trapped in our bodies and a big part of healing has to happen there as well. Because it comes from our body and not our head, trauma often has no words. It is stored in feelings and memories inside of us, so we have to find ways to work on healing in ways that use no words to help set those stuck places free.
Come join us with an INCREDIBLE teacher and art therapist, Robert Morrissey. He has over 20 years experience in teaching people to process and heal from trauma using creative expression, including working with communities of color who were living with AIDS, Holocaust survivors, sexual minority youth in the juvenile justice system, and youth with gang affiliations.
Robert brings you an introduction to art therapy as a means of healing trauma, as well as hands on time focusing on the use of art to aid in healing relational trauma.
We are asking for $15 as a sign of your commitment to attend and hold a space for you, but if finances are a barrier, please reach out to us.
Since this class is offered with a guest speaker, we are going to require pre-purchased tickets as opposed to our regular registration process. No advance paperwork required!
