"During difficult times, which include positive and negative changes in our lives, it is easy to forget our strengths. It can be beneficial to have someone to help us remember our strengths and our value.  It can be helpful to gain a different perspective on struggles. This can also help us articulate needs, think critically about, and make desired changes.”

My name is Kimberlee Dennery. I have been a  Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2005 in the state of Massachusetts and since 2014 in Oregon.  These are particularly stressful times. We all need support and someone who can help us recognize our strengths and value.  I have a particular skill in working with individuals going through life transitions. Going through grief and loss, education challenges, relationship difficulties, a new family member, or illness, it can be particularly difficult to cope and particularly beneficial to be in therapy to work through these issues with an unbiased ear.  I can assist you in thinking about problems in a different, hopefully more constructive ways.

I graduated from Simmons Graduate School of Social Work in Boston.  Much of my experience and training was in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts.  I moved to Portland, Oregon to work at the Portland VA Medical Center in fall 2014.

I am trained in Family Systems Therapy and incorporate CBT, DBT, Mindfulness and Narrative therapy concepts in my work.   I believe that each client is unique and requires an individual approach. Rather than offering a specific therapy modality, I try to think specifically about what might benefit the individual.

Some specialty areas she works in include:

  • Depression and Anxiety

  • Life Changes

  • Chronic Pain

  • Health challenges and illness

  • Couples and family therapy

  • Teens and younger clients

  • Skill development

  • Assertiveness skills
