About Cat

My name is Cat Davila and I am excited to be entering practice as a Clinical Social Work Associate!

I think of the work I do with people in terms of metaphors of untangling knots and weaving webs. Untangling knots means making progress in solving tricky problems, and weaving webs means building resources for supporting wellbeing.

I incorporate narrative practice into my work, which means looking at the ways our stories about our lives create our paths forward and finding the story that leads where we want to go.

I work from the recovery model of mental health care, which means supporting people in defining what wellness looks like for them and reaching for that, rather than focusing on symptoms or pathology.

I work from a structural perspective, which means addressing the systems people are living in and the ways they are impacted by the resources and barriers that shape the options available to them.

I also work from a relational perspective, which means I value the role of the therapeutic relationship and collaboration with my clients, as well as focusing on how other types of relations are working in their lives.

My values as I do this are to stay grounded in curiosity, humility, and courage, and to be a carrier of hope.

My areas of interest include:

  • Trauma

  • Grief

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Culture and Identity

  • Neurodiversity

  • Relationship Conflicts

  • Systemic Oppression
