Anxiety & Depression
Holistic, evidence-based care that treats the whole person - mind, body and nervous system.

Anxiety and depression can make everyday life feel overwhelming, exhausting, or disconnected. You may feel like your thoughts won’t quiet down, your emotions feel too big (or too distant), or your body is constantly on alert.

At Health Allies Counseling, we take an integrated, personalized approach to healing. Instead of relying on just one model of therapy, our clinicians blend the most effective tools from multiple modalities to help you feel grounded, empowered, and connected again.

Because your story — and your nervous system — deserve a therapy that fits you.

Our approach to healing
1
What forms of therapy help with anxiety and depression?
We draw from a range of therapeutic models, each selected to support your unique needs, symptoms, and goals. Your therapist tailors sessions so you get the right combination of skills, insight, and nervous-system healing. Just some of them are below.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Helps you identify unhelpful thinking patterns, build new coping strategies, reduce symptoms, and change behavior that reinforces anxiety or depression.
Mindfulness & Acceptance-Based Approaches
Teaches you how to be present, reduce rumination, regulate emotions, and relate to your thoughts with greater compassion and clarity.
Somatic Therapies
Helps your nervous system settle and release stored stress through body awareness, grounding, breathwork, and other mind–body techniques.
EMDR Therapy
Supports deeper reprocessing of past experiences, trauma, or beliefs that contribute to anxiety, panic, or depressive symptoms.
Brainspotting
Accesses emotional or somatic roots of anxiety and depression by using eye position to reach deeper areas of the brain and body.
IFS-Informed Therapy (Internal Family Systems)
Helps you understand and heal the protective and wounded parts of yourself that may be driving anxiety, shame, or inner conflict.
Relational & Attachment-Based Therapy
Strengthens your sense of connection, safety, and self-worth through a supportive therapeutic relationship.
Trauma-Informed Care Throughout
Many symptoms of anxiety and depression are tied to earlier experiences, relational wounds, or the nervous system staying stuck in survival mode.
We honor this.
We never push.
We work at your pace.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which therapy modality is right for me?
You don’t need to decide ahead of time. Your therapist will recommend a blend of approaches based on your symptoms, history, and preferences — and will adjust as you grow.

What if I’ve already tried therapy before and it didn’t help?
Many clients come to us after feeling stuck elsewhere. Our integrative approach allows you to try different techniques, including somatic or brain-based therapies that go deeper than talk therapy alone.

Do I have to talk about my past to treat anxiety or depression?
Not necessarily. Some clients focus on present-day skills and symptom relief. Others find that exploring root causes brings deeper change. We follow your pace and goals.

Will therapy make me feel worse before I feel better?
Sometimes emotions surface as you begin healing. Your therapist will support you with grounding, pacing, and regulation skills so the process feels safe and manageable.
Can therapy help if my anxiety feels mostly physical?
Yes. Many anxiety symptoms show up in the body — tight chest, racing heart, tension, restlessness. Somatic, mindfulness, and brain-based therapies can help calm your nervous system directly.

What’s the difference between CBT and somatic therapies?
CBT helps retrain thoughts and behaviors.
Somatic therapies calm the nervous system and body.
Both are effective — and many clients benefit from using them together.

Can EMDR or Brainspotting help with anxiety or depression even if I haven’t experienced trauma?
Yes. These therapies help with negative beliefs, stuck emotions, stress responses, and internal blocks — not just trauma.

How soon will I start feeling better?
Many people notice relief within a few weeks. Others need more time, especially if symptoms are chronic or trauma-related. We check in regularly to track what’s working and adjust as needed.

What if I don’t know where to start?
Most people don’t! Your therapist will guide you step by step. Just showing up is enough.
