The Guest House
           Jalaluddin Rumi

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
They may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Hi, I'm Kelly (he/him). Your path of healing and growth is very personal. I'm here to listen.  My clinical approach is warm, genuine and compassionate. Are you struggling with trauma, relationship issues, parenting, substance abuse, anxiety or depression? Are you LGBTQIA+?  Polyamorous?

I honor your inherent wisdom and ability to heal. I use mindfulness, Somatic EMDR, Brainspotting, and Somatic therapies, among others. We consider the different influences in your life, from trauma, anxiety and depression, to family systems and social and institutional oppression. Together, we work toward your liberation and healing.

I was asked recently why I do this work. I want to share the gifts I received myself from therapy: understanding, warmth, compassion and new skills for living a joyful life.

I hold a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University and a Master of Fine Art degree from San Francisco Art Institute. I am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. My work is an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice. I draw from the Liberation Health model and I integrate Somatic EMDR, Brainspotting, Polyvagal theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), attachment theory and more.

When not working you will find me playing and creating with my daughter, sharing time with my mom and my friends, making beats on that drum set, playing shows with my band, traveling, and looking for the owner’s manual on “How-To-Be-Human on Planet Earth.”

I work with:

  • PTSD

  • LGBTQIA+ issues

  • Anxiety
