While many clients come to Health Allies Counseling
looking for specific modalities such as EMDR, somatic therapy,
CBT, DBT, mindfulness, or ACT, therapy doesn’t always fit
neatly into one framework. Our therapists bring a wide range of
training, clinical interests, and lived experience to
their work — allowing us to tailor therapy to the person, not the model.

A Broad, Integrative Approach
In addition to the therapies highlighted on our website, Health Allies clinicians draw from other well-established, evidence-based and theory-informed approaches, including:
-
Existential Therapy
Supporting clients in exploring meaning, purpose, identity, freedom, and responsibility — especially during life transitions, loss, or periods of uncertainty. -
Psychodynamic Therapy
Exploring how early relationships, attachment patterns, and unconscious processes influence present-day emotions, behaviors, and relationships. -
Culturally Responsive & Identity-Affirming Therapy
Grounded in cultural humility and awareness of systemic oppression, this work honors lived experience related to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, immigration status, and other intersecting identities. -
Relational & Attachment-Based Therapy
Focused on how relationships shape emotional safety, self-worth, and connection — and how healing can occur through a supportive therapeutic relationship. -
Strengths-Based & Person-Centered Approaches
Emphasizing autonomy, resilience, and inherent worth rather than pathology or diagnosis. -
Integrative & Eclectic Therapy
Thoughtfully blending techniques across modalities to meet each client’s unique needs, goals, and nervous system.
What This Means for You
You don’t need to know which therapy model is “right” before starting.
You don’t need to fit into a specific framework.
You don’t need to explain yourself perfectly.
Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to:
-
Understand your goals and concerns
-
Recommend approaches that align with your needs and values
-
Adapt therapy over time as you grow and change
-
Respect your cultural, relational, and personal context
Our belief is simple: effective therapy is responsive, not rigid.
How We Choose What Works
At Health Allies Counseling, our clinicians:
-
Use evidence-based and ethically grounded practices
-
Stay informed through ongoing training and consultation
-
Consider the whole person — mind, body, identity, history, and environment
-
Prioritize safety, consent, and collaboration
-
Adjust pacing and approach based on your feedback
No single therapy fits everyone — and that’s a strength, not a limitation.
