All about Sarah
Hi. My name is Sarah Dunnings-Smith (She/Her). I look forward to helping you create a life experienced as worth living. I am passionate about supporting humans with complex families, relationships and personal experiences. I specialize in working with individuals who’ve experienced sexual abuse, assault and traumatic events in childhood.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in the science of trauma; How it impacts us physically, mentally and emotionally. Early in treatment I will focus on creating a trusting and safe relationship so that you are able to do the work, which allow you reclaim your sense of self. I pull from a variety of modalities (narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems, somatic experiencing and mindfulness based CBT) to deliver a blended cognitive and somatic approach that is flexible and unique. My approach is based on your needs and individuality.
If you are looking to better understand yourself. Understand your roots, your triggers, and the things that bring you joy, I’m all in. We will work to better understand where you've been and begin to walk the path toward the wellness you seek.
I hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and an active LCSW through the Oregon Board of Social Workers.
Before joining Health Allies, I served adolescents and their families as an outpatient school-based therapist and as part of a team at a family advocacy center. In my role I’ve had the opportunity to serve a diverse, and often marginalized, population of beautifully resilient humans. Walking beside client's and their families as they reclaim their power and agency.
