Art Therapy

Express what words can’t.
Heal through creativity and connection.

Sometimes experiences, emotions, or memories are hard to put into words. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, shut down, or disconnected — even when you want to understand or talk about what’s going on.

At Health Allies Counseling, we offer Art Therapy as a gentle, expressive approach to healing that allows you to explore emotions, process experiences, and build insight through creative expression — without needing to have the “right words.”

How will art therapy help me?

Bridge In Forest

1

What is art therapy?

Art Therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses creative expression — such as drawing, painting, collage, or other art-making processes — to support emotional healing, self-understanding, and nervous-system regulation.

You do not need to be an artist or have any creative experience. The focus is not on the artwork itself, but on the process and meaning behind it.

Art Therapy helps you:

  • Express emotions that are difficult to verbalize

  • Access deeper feelings safely

  • Explore experiences non-verbally

  • Increase self-awareness and insight

  • Reduce stress and emotional overwhelm

  • Build a sense of agency and control

Art becomes a bridge between your inner world and healing.

What symptoms is
art therapy good for?

Art Therapy can be especially supportive for people experiencing:

  • Trauma or complex trauma

  • Anxiety or emotional overwhelm

  • Depression or low mood

  • Stress or burnout

  • Grief and loss

  • Identity exploration

  • Difficulty expressing emotions

  • Dissociation or feeling disconnected

  • Shame or self-criticism

Art Therapy allows healing to happen at your pace, often in ways that feel more accessible and less overwhelming than talk therapy alone.

3

Is art therapy
a good fit for you?
