All about Robbin

Greetings! I’m Robbin (she/her). I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I come from a trauma-informed place, and prioritize safety in the therapeutic relationship. I believe that without a felt sense of safety, we can struggle to heal. I believe in a compassion focused stance, bringing compassion to all parts of ourselves. I am centered in values-based work, and in figuring out how we remove the barriers to a life worth living. I work with adults, 21-100+. My therapeutic approach involves meeting you where you are, and determining how I can help you achieve your therapeutic goals. I believe that you are the expert of your own experience, and wherever we meet up on your healing spiral, there is good work that we can accomplish together. Whether you need new tools for your toolbox or longer-term explorations, I am excited to hear what is important to you for our journey in therapy.

As a genderqueer person, and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am interested in helping any of my folx with queer or gender concerns. Whether you are investigating gender identities, or just being queer in the United States today, I’m here for you. Practicing honoring intersectionality of identity is primary in my practice. As a white person who is cis/able bodied-appearing, I am constantly working to investigate my privileges, especially in relationship to my BIPOC clients. It is important to me to honor the dignity and worth of every individual.

Primarily, I am an ACT therapist. I believe in the helpfulness of acceptance and commitment to our values, and see mindfulness as a great tool in this work. I love bringing mindfulness into session. I am also trained in DBT, ERP, MI, and Written Exposure Therapy. Although some people come looking with a particular therapy in mind, it can also be useful for us to discover together which of these approaches (or a combination!) would work best for your particular challenges and strengths. We want to add tools to your toolbox, while respecting what is already working for you. Stylistically, I use “informed irreverence” from DBT, meaning humor or playfulness in session can help to disrupt our rigid or unhelpful thought patterns. Humor can be a great healing tool!

Helping people heal from narcissistic abuse, particularly narcissistic parents, is a specialty of mine. I love helping people find new ways of relating to their trauma. Trauma processing work can be very challenging, especially early on. When you begin to open those boxes that you have never opened, it can be especially so.  I love working with Veterans and active-duty Service Members, and have an extensive understanding of military culture and transition stressors.

If you are experiencing challenging losses in your life, life stage adjustments, death of loved ones, or are coping with a terminal diagnosis, I want to walk with you through these dark places. We can help you find a way to continue to live towards your values.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor in Oregon, and I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2019. My professional experience includes providing mental health therapy to Veterans, and working with people experiencing homelessness. This is my “second” career.  In my previous life I was a corporate event planner, an executive assistant at a large manufacturing company, and a graphic designer (among other things!). I think everything that we have been can inform all of our future endeavors.

Outside of session you will find me walking my labraweenie, Spencer, exploring the food landscape of my adopted city, and developing my herb garden.
