All about Renata
Hello and welcome, I’m really glad you’re here. My name is Renata (she/her), and I offer individual counseling to adults 18 and over, with a focus on supporting marginalized communities. I approach this work with warmth, curiosity, and respect for your unique experiences. I believe the relationship between client and counselor is one of the most important factors in bringing about positive change, growth and healing.
In our work together, my goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without fear of judgment. I take a collaborative and strengths-based approach, and I’ll work alongside you to explore what’s been weighing on you, notice patterns that may no longer feel helpful, and gently consider new ways of understanding yourself and your experiences. I also focus on supporting you in decreasing isolation and cultivating growth-fostering relationships in your life.
I’m committed to making mental health care accessible to underserved communities, including providing care that is culturally responsive and inclusive. With this in mind, I hold an awareness of how different aspects of identity can shape your experiences, and I broach and welcome conversations about systems of power and oppression in our work. As a biracial (filipina/white) person, I also bring personal understanding of what it can feel like to move through spaces where you may not feel fully seen or understood. I recognize how these experiences, along with stigma around mental health in some communities, can impact well-being.
I completed a Masters of Science in Marriage Couple and Family Counseling from Portland State University in 2020 and spent 3 years working as a counselor serving refugees and immigrants at a local community agency. I became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 2024. My previous professional experience includes working with individuals and families around reproductive health, pregnancy options, the perinatal period, and parent engagement.
Outside of my work I enjoy spending quality time with friends, swimming in rivers, sewing clothes, and eating ice cream. I’m also a performing singer and musician.
