All about Jolyn
Hi! I’m Jolyn Fry (they/she), Clinical Social Work Associate

If you’re considering working with me, I want you to know that I’m here to show up with you. I, as a therapist, specialize in working with trauma survivors who are navigating the journey of building a life worth living. For any person needing support with symptoms of anxiety or depression, my goal is to support you in creating a better, more effective life for yourself. This work is deeply personal to me, as I come to this space with my own lived experience of being a survivor and navigating life with PTSD. I know your struggles are so much more than a label or a diagnosis. Please know, if you want to make a change in your life, I want to help you find the pathway to your own purpose.

What to Expect in Our Sessions? In our time together, I will hold your value and worth in the highest esteem. At times, this looks like actively listening and validating your experience while creating a safe space where you feel heard. In addition, you will be offered DBT Skills learning to build practical tools to help you manage day-to-day challenges. Together, we want to learn what motivates you and identify the thoughts or emotions that might be interfering with your goals. As a therapist, I am both compassionate and direct. While I lead with empathy, I’m not afraid to confront difficult issues with honesty when the moment is right for your growth. I am truthful and kind and will hold space for your growth and healing with intention and care.

About me: I was born and raised on a farm in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1997. I am an artist, meditator, and a trauma survivor. I have used the practice of artmaking and mindfulness in the process of recovering self. I currently live in Portland, OR, with my two cats, Pickles and Moon. After working for decades, teaching art, cleaning houses, and working at grocery stores…I more recently worked for several years as an advocate in DV shelters, supporting survivors in crisis. In June of 2025, I graduated from the MSW program at PSU and completed my practicum in DBT at Providence Behavioral Health. I have also worked at the Portland DBT clinic as an associate clinical social worker. I am grateful to have the opportunity to support clients in their own process of personal growth and healing.
